CIC to launch Canada Express Entry scheme

With thriving and flourishing economy, Canada welcomes good number of immigrants over each year. In order to effectively address the skills shortages in various key sectors, the country has designed a fast and responsive electronic system entitled as Express Entry that ensures that only the best skilled immigrants are entered to the country.

The launch of Express Entry system Effective 1 January 2015, the new Express Entry system will transform the current immigration system into more flexible that expedites and facilitates the visa process for skilled professionals. This system facilitates the recruitment process and benefits both employers and employees. And, it helps to reduce backlogs and make sure that applications will be processed within six months.
Unlike other Canada immigration programs, the new Express Entry system is applicable to all categories of people regardless of their occupation listed in the set of eligible occupations.

The procedure of Express Entry

Initially, potential Candidates who are interested to immigrate to Canada should create an online express entry profile. The profiles are shortlisted and ranked based on the selection factors such as education, work experience, language and others, which demonstrates the applicant’s ability to succeed in Canada. After evaluating the applicant’s criteria, qualified applicants will be placed in a pool.


Highly ranked applicants, who acquired a job offer or nominated by a province or territory will be invited to apply for PR under any one of the four economic immigration programs. Applicants with no job offer must promote themselves to the Canadian employers through job bank and private sector boards.

What are the immigration programs?

Express Entry manages applications for four programs such as:

Federal skilled worker class
Federal trade class
Canada experience class
A portion of Province and nomination program

After getting an invitation letter, applicants must apply under any of the above mentioned programs within 60 days.
